FRAGILE INHERITANCE a painter's ecology of glaciated North America In 1984, Aleta Karstad and Fred Schueler were commissioned by Methuen Canada to set out across the continent, painting, writing, and collecting to compose a book about humanity's effects on the ecology of northern North America. The resulting manuscript is an intimate description of the nature of our land, with insights into the past, the present, and the future. They called it "Fragile Inheritance, a painter's ecology of glaciated North America."

Plans for publication have resumed, in collaboration with McGill Queens Press. Fragile Inheritance update form

What can we do to increase awareness of habitat loss, invasive species, and human impact on nature?

There is no other independent organized group in Canada which is dedicated to promoting long term monitoring. This is your chance to support the work of Fragile Inheritance.
